Waking Up

So now everyone knows how I sleep. I have a tendency to lay in really odd positions or super curled up and it takes me foreeeever to actually get up. Usually awakeness is best negotiated by a series of sitting positions. Up on my arms, then on my heels, then finally on my butt. Also, somehow my black clothing is no longer black. I think it's from working at Lush. Everything is a permanent shade of dark grey. This is not going to work. I might have to wear all white to work now.
(Quick note: the doll that I'm holding I've had since I was 4, that was 16 years ago! And she's still as sweet and precious to me as when I first got her.)

So I my petticoat finally arrived in the mail with was exciting but I didn't know how I wanted to wear it. The outfit above is my first try at unLolita-fying it, which is why I wore the boots. Unbeknownst to me, the boots just intensified the look. So I'm not exactly sure what to do to make it less obviously petticoat and more poofy skirt. Maybe it needs to be shorter. It kinda reminds me of a long version of the Miu Miu shirt thingies. It also reminds me of Death of the Endless from the Sandman comics. I don't know. I'm a nerd.

Emma Cook

Oh my goodness. If I were rich I'd be all over these:

including the tights. In a heartbeat. Emma Cook has my heart.

At Lush we regularly have parties where if you spend the right amount of money there are awesome goodie bags. And there's music and food and good conversation. On Saturday we had our Parisian themed party, so I wore all black with flats and a jaunty scarf (that I'm not wearing in the picture.) These pictures were taken in the same place as these so I'm thinking the camera needs to get better or there needs to be more lighting.

Style Bytes Is Back

Just in a different form. Actually no. Let me correct that. Style Bytes is not back. Agathe is. And I feel that this new website is more her than anything else I've seen so far. Sometimes it seems a little fashiony but on the whole it's very whimsical. Go there now.

//Update: the link is now working. Sorry guys. Thanks for letting me know!

One of the many great things about Lush is that you can pretty much wear whatever you like as long as it's black and white or all white or all black. And accessories can be whatever you want. (Do socks count as accessories?)
But anyway. I'm completely in love with my socks as I mentioned earlier and this is one of the pairs I got. I'm thinking they'd look so cute with the flats I didn't buy. Hmm. Might have to go back and get those.

In Search of Flats

The boif and I ran out yesterday to get some flats. I know I know. I said I hated them but I need a new pair for the job. My first pair has a hole in them and don't hold their shape right from all the rain and running around. Basically they're behaving more like flip flops than anything else. This is a bad thing.

There were some I saw at Dillard's that I wish I'd bought. I may go back for them in a few days if I don't see anything I like in Macy's.
Also: my socks are AMAZING. Pictures later.

A Very Quick TiLT

1.The Sandman Comics. Oh my goodness. How good are they?
2.The boif and the song he wrote for me. 'Nuff said.
3. FreePeople. I love love love their dresses. I'm ordering some.
4. School. It starts next week! I'm really excited and really terrified at the same time. It's been a year or more since I've been in school (I took a year off) so I'm a bit worried. Which basically means my math teacher is going to end up seeing my face everyday.
5. Lush for letting me take all sorts of samples home and for making my skin awesome.
6. Blue nail polish, still. I love purple more but I can't ever find the right plum or eggplant shade in stores. I love blue nail polish because it's easy to find and it's a great alternative to black which I think tries too hard.
7. Grandaddy. My grandfather is 88 years old and still mows the lawn, cooks, runs to the grocery store, babysits, and talks nonstop. You should hear him tell ghost stories. During the day time, we all just shrug them off but at night, when it's pitch black and we're laying in our beds, they keep us up.

Happy Birthday to me!

So I'm back from visiting the country (Colquitt, GA if you're wondering.) I'm now 20 which means that I'm a year away from legally doing the things that I'm already doing. I got a few really lovely presents. The Sandman graphic novels, written by Neil Gaiman (which are boss) and a coupla shirts (which are also boss but for other reasons.) Mostly I've accumulated some birthday money which will go towards clothes. Do you remember that post where I listed my favorite socks and asked for your opinion? I bought some of those. The rest weren't in stock in the color I wanted.

As I'm sure you have noticed, my cake does not say "Aziza" and that would be because my real name is Ariel. I'm sure I don't have to go into that spiel about privacy and hiding things from certain people who need to not be in my life any more. The end result is I'll be posting under my real name. I look like an Ariel anyway.

Keeping It Simple

Sorry about the picture quality. We have awful lighting in our room and the boif doesn't like to use flash. The second picture he did use flash but had his finger covering part of it, I guess. I don't know, I think it looks pretty cool.

I found this dress a couple weeks ago, thrifting in Little Five Points. It's really nice and lightweight and great quality. I actually got this dress the same day I got the highwaisted skirt and longsleeved shirt (yeah I like wearing all of my new stuff immediately.)

I got a lot of compliments on it when I wore it to work. It's the first really nice maxi dress I've been able to find offline (all my others came from eBay.) It also does a great job of showing off my best assets without seeming too slutty. So I'm really pleased.

I feel like I've been really out of touch with the blog world (and I'm going away again for a week to celebrate my birthday.) So tell me, what's really good?

Thrifted skirt
Urban Outfitters knit shirt
Steve Madden flats
Gifted and thrifted jewelry

I wore this this to work the other day. I realize I look just a bit old fashion in the picture, what with the skirt and the hair. I assure you I didn't as much, especially because of how thin the shirt is. It's really super thin and I can only wear it with things that cover up the rest of my flesh so I don't look like a ho. But I think in this case it gives it some much needed sex appeal.

Dark Knight

So I went to see the Dark Knight on Sunday. The movie was sooo good. If you haven't seen it, you must! Heath didn't even seem like Heath. He seemed 100% the Joker. It makes me sad that he died but if there were ever a time for him to go out, this was exactly the time.

Also, how good are these pictures? The boif is getting better and better. I'm so proud of him. The last one was a bit of an accident, the flash went off but I'm really pleased. Being out in full sunlight helps too.
