Petticoat Redux

I'm sure you all remember the petticoat experiment the first time and how I wasn't exactly sure how I felt about it. I played around with it yesterday, just wanted to make it really simple and I like how it turned out. I wore it to work and then out to Waffle House with a friend. Let me tell you, there are few things better than breakfast foods in the middle of the night.

On the hair thing: yep decided to let my hair grow out long and curly. I don't plan on doing the afro at all. I mean, my mother rocked it but it's not for me so much. Thank you guys for all your support about it. I know it may not seem like a big deal to you guys but it really is becauase black hair is so political and the way you wear it means so much to how people view you as a person. Personally, I just want to be able to grow my hair down my back and I can't do that while I'm damaging it. Have you guys ever gone to BiracialHair.org? Teri is my hair idol.

I hope y'all have a nice night!

  3. Hi ;)
Thank you so much for being at my blog and left such kind words in comments.

I didn't know your blog, but I'm liking it a lot.

  4. I won't comment on the political aspects of black hair, because obviously, I could never understand about that, but I'm interested in seeing where you go with your hair, whatever style you choose.

I can, however, comment on a black petticoat/skirt, and I like how you did this one. Especially with the sweet top and tough shoes. Nice.

  5. I love how you actually talked about black hair, because it sometimes seems like it is not supposed to spoken about.

I just found your blog and I love it! :)

    Trade links?

  8. I think the puffed up skirt is absolutely adorable! You are gorgeous, and I think an afro would have suited you very well, but I'm eager to see your hair grow. I'm the exact opposite, always saying I'll chop mine off!

  9. good luck with growing your hair out...I'm doing the same, and right now, I'm in bobby pin heaven/hell. Have you ever tried Mixed Chicks shampoo and conditioner--it's really good stuff. Keeps hair healthy and fed. Also, Catwalk Curl Rocks Amplifier...really awesome stuff (smells good too!).

p.s. I'm really jealous. You obviously live in a city/town where you can still wear sleeveless tees...I'm digging out the jackets and coats up here :-(

  10. Thank you all :)

enc: yeah i'm pretty excited about where I'll go with it. I'm sure I'll wear it straight too sometimes but it'd be good to wash and go and have long hair.

chubbs: Thank you so much! Right now I use Carol's Daughter stuff for me hair and I like that but I've also been reading about the Mixed Chicks stuff but I just didn't know anyone who used it and liked it. And yay, a transitioning buddy! (laughs)

aysia: Aw, thanks. I just talk about things that relate to me and I guess I don't worry about it too much. If people don't like it they can ignore it. And yes, we should trade links :)

  11. If you need hair advice, i'm your go-to-girl...I've tried everything...i cut and grow out pretty much every year.

I love Carol's Daughter (tui oil!), but Mixed Chicks conditioner and shampoo is unlike anything i've used. It really makes you love your hair.
